Retreat. Relax. Renew.
The story of The Morris Estate began with Ernest Melvin Morris, a local entrepreneur known for his visionary business skills and generous charitable contributions. He purchased parcels of land in Southwest Michigan along the St. Joseph River with a passion for reforestation. In the 1930s, Morris Farms was born. E.M. Morris and his family continued to expand the farm and had many unique and historic structures built and placed on the 1,000 acre property. Over the years, the Morris Family and local residents enjoyed countless gatherings at Morris Farms.
In 2010 the current owners purchased The Chapel, Estate, Schoolhouse and surrounding land. Although the name has changed to The Morris Estate, the property's quaint atmosphere and rich heritage continue to be maintained through careful restorations. Recent renovations to The Estate have created a private suite within the main home for guests. This space is perfect for bridal parties, family reunions, anniversaries, and Notre Dame game weekends. Nestled in the woods adjacent to the home, a small cabin, the Red Horse Inn, is also available for overnight stays.
Grounds & Gathering Places
Aside from the spacious private suites, The Estate has many open spaces to share and explore. Indoor common areas offer rooms for relaxing alone or gathering with friends. Curl up by the fire with a good book. Gather for a lively game night. Take the party outdoors with traditional lawn games or a crackling campfire by the picnic pavilion. Discover wildlife with a nature walk along the trails. Snap family photos on the covered bridge. Regardless of your interests, your stay at The Estate promises to be a memorable adventure!
